Your Donations Help!

You don't need special skills, a lot of time or money to make a difference in our animal's health, happiness and safety.  Below are some ways that you can make a difference.

Help Save Companion Animals

You can donate by clicking the button to make your donation or by sending your donation to Southside Animal Shelter,
1614 W. Edgewood Ave, Indianapolis, Indiana 46217.  We are a 501(c)3 Not for Profit organization which means that your donation is tax deductible.

Southside Animal Shelter receives no public funding nor do we have any large corporate sponsors. All our funding comes through our adoption fees and donations from people who help support our mission to stop the needless killing of healthy or treatable companion animals in Indianapolis.

Volunteers

We are always looking for adult volunteers to help staff our shelter and the Greenwood Petco adoption center, to help at pet events or to help with fundraising.

For more information on how to get involved, please email Robin at rmkennedy56@comcast.net

Any help at all is very much appreciated and makes a difference in an animals life.

Needed Items

We currently need donations of paper towels, dish rags, bleach, liquid laundry detergent, dish washing detergent and lots of newspapers to help keep our animals  clean, dry and content.

We always need and welcome donations of  canned cat and kitten food, animal toys, dog rawhide chews and other animal care items.

Donations of blankets, rugs and towels are used in each animals cage to help make it more comfy and home like.

During the winter months donations of clean dry hay can help keep our animals warmer and dryer (before bringing hay to the shelter please call (317)- 710-2831 we have limited storage).

Please bring donated items to: Southside Animal Shelter, 1614 W. Edgewood Ave., Indianapolis, In. 46217 or call (317)- 710-2831.

Adoptive Families

We are always looking for good adoptive homes for our animals. When you adopt a pet from Southside Animal Shelter you give it a forever home, but you do so much more. You open up the space for another pet who's time is running out. Your adoption fee allows us to provide medical care, food and water and a warm safe place for other animals to come to get well and find their forever home.

Foster Families

Southside Animal Shelter is currently looking for good foster families for our kittens and puppies.  Our foster program places a litter of kittens or puppies with a family who agrees to care for the litter and take them to the adoption center until all the babies are adopted.  This is a great way to provide a much needed service for our animals. Fostering our puppies and kittens gives them the socialization they need in order to become adoptable pets. We also need fosters for adult animals that may need specialized care such as dogs being treated for heartworm. You would be responsible for taking them back and forth to their vet appointments and making sure they received the treatments that are recommended. For more foster information, please call (317)- 710-2831 or email rmkennedy56@comcast.net.

Southside Animal Shelter and Hugs for Homeless Animals have partnered to help make companion animals in our care a little more comfortable until we can find them their forever homes. Click on the image to learn more about their Snuggles Project.
