Pamela S. Porter Marcum, beloved wife of Douglas A. Marcum, lost her two year battle with cancer on July 21, 2008. She was born April 4, 1964 in Indianapolis, the daughter of David W. and Leta A. Green Porter. Pamela had two big passions in life, swimming and body boarding on the ocean waves. She enjoyed the waves of the Atlantic and Pacific oceans very much. Her greatest enjoyment in life was her love for cats. She worked for "I Can", where she helped spay and neuter cats. She also worked for the Southside Animal Shelter in Indianapolis, where she fostered sick kittens back to health so they could be adopted out. The joy of finding them a home was all she needed to make her feel that she could make a difference in their lives. Her home has always been filled with rescued cats and birds. Her life could not be complete without sharing her love with as many cats as she possibly could.
All of us at Southside Animal Shelter and the many kittens she rescued over the years will miss Pamela.
We would like to express our sympathy and gratitude to the friends and family of Pamela.
