Silver Tails!
ASPCA Grant Recognition

We would like to extend heartfelt thanks to the ASPCA Lil BUB's Big Fund for their support of our Silver Tails program for senior pets. Because of their financial support we were able to help senior dogs Willow and Eloise. Willow came to us terribly matted and with an abscessed mouth due to rotting teeth. We pulled sweet Eloise from the city shelter and were able to provide the vetting she needed to prepare her for adoption. Thanks to the Lil BUB's Big Fund, Willow and Eloise received their second chance for a happy ending!

When Willow first came to us she was severely matted and dirty. She was having trouble eating and drinking because she had some really bad teeth and one had abscessed. She need antibiotics, a dental cleaning and a number of extractions.
Even before every thing had been done her new mom took one look at her and knew, she said "that's my dog. She needs me "

It is inconceivable that a treasured family pet would be tossed away when they show signs of old age or when extra care is required, but this is an all to common occurrence. Older pets are surrendered at shelters to await their fate and are often euthanized as unadoptable so shelters can make room for the many other animals being surrendered daily.

At this time, there are very few rescue groups that specialize in helping homeless senior pets, though the issue of geriatric pets is found in every community.
