Volunteer doesn’t quite describe what Alice means to our shelter. She’s been helping rescues since 2001 and we’re so glad she found her way to Southside about four years ago. She usually puts in a full week and is always willing to do whatever the shelter needs. She helps with socializing the dogs and cats, answers questions from our potential adopters, coordinates off-site adoption events for us and more. About a year ago, she took on the responsibility of our foster program while also being one of our most active fosters herself. She’s fostered more around 500 animals over the years, is the first one in line to take on our many medical cases and loves when she gets a chance to help a pregnant momma. Alice, like so many of our volunteers, truly goes above and beyond and makes such a difference for our animals. Given our small staff and desire to take on medical needs dogs and cats, there isn’t any way we could do that without the help and support of amazing volunteers like Alice.
